I have already shared how I spent the first week of July in Door County, Wiscsonsin for a family reunion. Well, while we were halfway across the country, we decided to complete the trip by visiting my parents at their house on Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia:

And only in rural Virginia would someone tout that they had worms!
Of course, when you are staying at a lake house, you have to do all the lake related activities like swimming, kayaking,
canoeing,
fishing,
well, maybe not fishing, more like "waiting"
and then giving up and feeding fish popcorn instead: |
My parents have only recently retired, and it had only been a few days before our visit that they actually moved into their house. When we got there there was still no phone, no internet, no TV, no furniture and boxes were all over. My mom was such a great sport about letting us visit! Hopefully one day I will be able to give you a photo tour of their house.. it is gorgeous, but it wasn't exactly photo-ready when we were there.
As a teaser check out the slipper tub in the master bathroom. Just LOOK at that faucet. So beautiful. And of course J thought it was telephone!
And who doesn't enjoy a vacation with a little DIY project? In this case, drywalling the basement:
By the end of the stay my dad and I had the majority of the project done, including a fresh coat of paint and the addition of some shelving:
Which is great for my parents, since everyone knows when you first move into a new place you have a TON of stuff:
It was a great two weeks, but by the end of it we were happy to be on the final airplane ride of the trip:
It had been a long trip.. 3 weeks.. 8 states.. 6941 miles.. 2 families.. and 1000 smiles..
..but there is no place like home!
haha that donut picture and feeding the fish popcorn...adorable. It looks like you had a great time!
