SNICKERS Or Starburst Creamsicle Milkshakes

Today’s post is actually TWO recipe posts in one.  And if you like milkshakes, you are in for two times the treat!
Candy Milkshakes with Snickers and Starburst
We are big football fans (both college and professional.. I mean, who else decorates their mantel for football season?)  This year, as a special treat on game day I decided to create milkshakes for the kids.

The beauty of milkshakes is that they are so easy to make, but feel so decadent.  The ingredients are simple: Ice Cream, Candy and Milk. Snickers Starburst Milkshakes
First up, for all the chocolate fans in the house, I present you: The SNICKERS Milkshake:
Snickers Game Day MilkshakeIngredients:
3 scoops Vanilla Ice Cream
5 Fun Size SNICKERS Bars
1/3-1/2 cup Milk (depending on thickness)

First I chopped up the snickers bars with a hand chopper. You can just tear them apart and crumble them up as well, but I wanted to keep my hands clean.  If you throw the entire candy bar into the blender you may end up with big chunks, so I definitely recommend pre-chopping

Scoop out your ice cream and add it to the blender, followed by the milk:

Pulse to blend.  Add more milk if you aren’t getting it to blend:

I topped it with Whipped cream a a few of the leftover SNICKERS crumbs:Snicker bar milkshake
I had this cute little football glass from the dollar store.  To stay with the Game Day Theme:

Now, if chocolate ins’t your thing.. How about this dreamy version?   The Orange Starburst Creamsicle Milkshake:
Starburst Orange Creamsicle Milkshake
Ingredients:
10 Orange Starburst Candies
1/3 cup water
3 Scoops Vanilla Ice Cream

Unwrap the orange Starburst candies and add them to a small sauce pan along with 1/3 cup water.

Melting starburst
Over medium heat dissolve the candies.  Whisking the mixture helps with even melting. Dissolving starburst candy
When they are completely dissolved removed from heat (i added mine to small heat-resistant bowl so it could cool quickly.) You want this orange syrup to cool down quite a bit (so it is warm but not HOT.)  If it cools too much it may start to get really sticky and syrupy, so using it slightly warm is best:

Add your ice cream to the blend and pour over the syrup.  Because the syrup is warm, there is no need to add additional milk:Adding orange syrup to ice cream
Blend and pour:  It tastes JUST like a Creamsicle.

You could make other fruity versions as well, just use the other flavors of Starburst candy:

I added a little whipped cream as the final touch: Orange Starburst Creamsicle Milkshake
