On Memorial Day I finally got my summer mantel up (it has been a while since I put up a mantel)! As always I went with a red white and blue patriotic theme, which will last me though the Fourth of July. This year I decided to feature all my burlap Pottery Barn Knock Off projects.
I added my folded burlap pinwheels to a basket filled with red, white and blue pillows and blankets:
Little tin buckets are filled with mini flags. (Tip: To get them to stand up right the buckets are filled with uncooked rice!)The paper banner is from the dollar store. It originally came on a red ribbon, but I reused the longer white ribbon I had leftover from my HOP HOP HOP banner from my Easter mantel.
It is nice to be able to reuse projects year after year. This may be the last year for these guys though, they are getting really beat up when I store them.
I tacked up the three dimensional stars I made last summer. I have a huge collection of Ikea lanterns and I love to group them on the hearth:
I just got it up in the nick of time, but now I’m all set for the summer! More Ikea lanterns on the mantel itself. (I have a mantel, and cake stand problem.. I admit it)
I hope you had a wonderful Memorial day weekend and that the summer is filled with lots of un and adventure!
