I’m so excited it is finally Summer! The kids are out of school and we’re able to slow down a little. It also means that this month’s Power Tool Challenge, is all about SUMMER as well.

I turned it into this pool side drying rack. A great place to hand towels, and suits and pool toys. Plus it folds up for easy storage.
The supplies to make it were so simple (and cheap! I spent less than $5!)
2- 1x2 furring strips
2 inch strap hinges (2)
Cording, rope, string or ribbon (I used nylon cording)
Paint (Mine was “Popcorn" by Martha Stewart)
Tools:
Saw (I used my miter saw)
Drill
Kreg Jig (I use the K4)
First I cut down the furring strips to about 12 inches shorter than the length of the crib rails, and then attached them end to end with the hinges. They will become the fold out legs.
I cut two lengths of 1x2 to create the cross braces between the legs. Next I used my Kreg Jig to create pocket holes in them and attach them to the legs. Doing this makes the whole rack more sturdy.
I put the pocket holes on the inside of the rack so you wouldn’t see them. Finally I painted the wood and added a length of cording to stop the legs from opening too wide. The rails for the crib are the perfect distance apart to hold towels and things.
Plus since it folds up, it is super portable. No more piles of wet soggy towels on the pool deck, everything is right at an arm’s reach.
