Now we can safely decorate
for Christmas! I’ve started some Christmas shopping and small projects here and
there, but we haven’t gone into full-on decorating mode yet. That changes
today. I’m excited to get everything out this weekend!
I have an easy DIY
ornament to share today that’s perfect for your favorite baseball or basketball
lover.
Here’s what you need for
this project:
- Clear ornaments
- Drop cloth
- White spray paint
- Orange spray paint
- Red permanent marker
- Black permanent marker
I love spray paint. I use
it on everything from old spaghetti jars to dressers.
It’s such an easy way to transform the look of pretty much anything.
Take the ornament toppers
out and set aside.
Use white paint for
baseballs and orange paint for basketballs. I put gloves on so my
fingers wouldn’t get soaked in spray paint.
Spray one side, then let
it dry, placing the non-painted side down so you don’t mess up the paint.
Paint the other side,
again putting the non-recently painted side down.
Use your judgment if you
need a second coat of paint. Again, spray one half of the ornament at a time so
each can dry without getting smudged.
Using a red permanent
marker, draw the baseball stitches on the white ornament. This is the hardest
part of the whole project just because you have to keep your hands steady while
you’re drawing on a circle object!
Use a black permanent
marker to make the marks on the orange ornament for the look of a basketball.
Put the ornament toppers
back in the ornaments.
Hang up and enjoy! Or wrap
up and give to your favorite sports lover for Christmas.
