Rustic Lodge Inspired Holiday Home Tour

Rustic Lodge Style Holiday Home Tour Rustic and Vintage with a touch of the outdoors I love it
Welcome to part two of my holiday home tour.  Today I’m sharing my family room and kitchen with you.  I took inspiration from that rustic mountain lodge feel of traditional ski chalets and mountain homes. Since it doesn’t really get cold here in California, I wanted the space to remind me of the cool crisp woods up in the mountains. All the rustic elements and natural colors make it feel extra cozy!

If you missed the first half of my home tour, it is DRAMATICALLY different than that space which featured traditional Victorian style Christmas decor.

I wanted a much more comfortable and casual space in the family/TV room (this room is off the kitchen and we spend 90% of our time here.) Country rustic christmas family room
The tree features all our family ornaments. I added some ribbon and berries to tie it to the rest of the space, but I refused to do a purely “theme” tree in this space, since once again.. it was all about FAMILY!  Country style christmas tree in browns and reds
I love sitting on the sofa and looking at the ornaments that bring back great memories of Christmas past.   I have talked about “ugly” trees before.. and this year was no exception.

I featured my makeover thrift store skis on the back wall by the tree, along with a marquee sign I got on sale a few years ago.

Of course I had to go all out with the mantel.  I love the natural elements.Christmas mantel with burlap and red plaid
I especially love how it looks at night. Having lights on both the garland and the wreath makes the whole room glow.

And I can’t get enough of paper cache reindeer. Seriously.. I‘m obsessed with them. Paper mache reindeer for christmas mantel

The shelves next to the mantel are full of my old projects.
German Christmas Smokers and pinecones
The mason jars candle holders are a super easy project using buffalo snow.

Vintage basket with pinecones and camelsThe faux locker basket is from the dollar store, and I transformed it with spray paint and homemade locker tags.

This is a pair of thrift store ice skates I pull out every year. The go great with the skisIce skates with ribbons and bells for christmas

Brown and red christmas decor at nightThe kids and I glittered these pine cones a long time ago. I save them to reuse every year and they have held up great.  I love the sparkle in the candle light! Glittered pinecones in front of christmas mantel

Off the family room, the kitchen also got a few fun touches for Christmas.

I added some glittered greenery to the chandelier over the kitchen table. Greenery on Chandelier for Christmas
At night the line shines on it and it sparkles. Sparkling Christmas Garland on Chandelier
I made a simple centerpiece on the kitchen table, but I put it on a tray so it is easy to take on and off when we eat.  (Since let’s be real here.. you can’t have all this stuff on your table if you really want to use it!) Christmas centerpiece with candles and pinecones
I don’t typically decorate the whole kitchen, just because the decorative ’stuff' tends to get in the way, but I have a few things on the on the cabinet turned open shelving.

I used my little jars to feature my Hummel ornaments. Miniature hummel vignette for christmas
I just removed the strings and stood them up along with some bottle brush trees. Hummel christmas vignette
I also put my decoupaged wood block sign on one of the shelves, along with a paint chip garland I created at a local event with Mixbook.Christmas sign and fox

It is a fabulous space, and I love being here.  I hope you also enjoyed the tour!
