If our family, attending local professional baseball games is a rite of passage.  There is nothing like walking into a ballpark and having the bright green field come into view.  Hearing the crack of the bat as the players warm up or hearing the National Anthem echo through the park is a memory you will never forget.

Our hometown team, the Oakland Athletics (affectionately known as the A’s) is celebrating 50 years in Oakland and we are regulars at the park.

And even if you aren’t a baseball loving family, there is still plenty to do to get the full immersive MLB experience.  From food and entertainment, to games and traditions, the Oakland A’s offer so many options beyond the diamond and even if you are a regular you may not even realize how much else is out there.

So I want to share my top 10 things to do at the Oakland A's game that will keep you (and the kids) busy through the entire game.

10 Kid Friendly Activities at Oakland A's Games

1.  Meet Stomper 

The lovable huggable team mascot, Stomper is a huge draw for kids of all ages.   Look for him in the kids zone before the games (he is also there during the 8th inning of every home game), on the field shooting off t-shirts into the crowd between innings, and walking around the concourse or in the seating bowl during the game.

2. Visit the Treehouse

The Treehouse is the latest addition to the ballpark and don't let the venue fool you.  This is a kid-friendly destination.

Featuring pool tables and foosball, this vintage inspired space is the A's tribe to being "Rooted in Oakland."

3. Visit Championship Plaza 

Located just outside the park, between the Coliseum and Oracle Arena, Championship plaza features food trucks, beer stands music and games. It is a great place to spend a little time before the game.  

4.  Join the Kid’s Club

The A’s love Kids!  They actually have a kid’s program which gives kids discounts and special opportunities all season long.  With two membership levels, there is a great option for casual and die hard fans alike. 

5. Take Advantage of Weeknight Specials

The A’s have a lot of promotions for 2018, including Mustache Mondays, Taco Tuesdays, Whiskey Wednesdays, Thirsty Thursdays and Green Fridays.
 During Monday home games, you can take advantage of HALF PRICE drink specials in the Treehouse and even grab a free MUSTACHE in their mustache vending machine.

Yes, you can get your own mustache right there in the park.
The only problem will be choosing which one is best for your face! My kids were so excited to make it onto the Jumbotron while sporting their staches! 

6.  Visit the Stomper Fun Zone

 Located on the Club Concourse behind section 220. The Stomper Fun Zone is open throughout the entire game and features games and activities for kids.

7. Enjoy the great ballpark food

The A’s stadium food choices go far beyond peanuts and Cracker Jacks.  You can grab bar food up at the Treehouse bar and concession stands or head down to the concourse for burgers, dogs, pizza and even seafood and shawarma! 

I think the big conversation starter this year was the Fried Crickets!

The Shiebe Park Tavern (on the west side of the park) features some of the (in my opinion) best food in the park.. The Monte Cristo sandwich is amazing and the funnel cake sticks are delish!

8. Peanut Allergies? No problem

If you have always shied away from ball parks because of peanut allergies, you may have a new option!   The Athletics provide a peanut controlled zone for families who don’t want to be exposed to peanuts while at their seats.

9. Celebrate with Seventh Inning Stretch

A tradition at every ball park, standing and stretching in the middle of the 7th inning is always a great way to get the wiggles out towards the end of the game. It is also a great time for a photo op!
