How to Apply HTV to Hats and Visors with the Cricut EasyPress Mini

I've been making hats and visors using my Cricut Maker and HTV (heat transfer vinyl) for a while now and it has always been a tedious process.   The small curved surface makes it impossible to use a traditional heat press, or even my full sized EasyPress and even my iron is too cumbersome with hot spots and a relatively large hot surface area.

On the flip side, those small hand held wand-style "mini-irons" don't get hot enough to work worth a hoot.
That is why I was so excited when Cricut asked if I would like to try out their new EasyPress Mini!

A neighbor asked if I could make a visor to wear to her child's soccer games, and I knew I could whip one up.  (You can get blank visors on Amazon) I uploaded the team logo for the front of the visor and the script word "Mom" for the brim.
*Remember when using HTV to mirror your image before cutting a weeding!*

For this project I used the Cricut Sports Flex HTV in grey (since Navy and Grey were the team colors) and because I wanted the extra flexibility on the curved surface.

The EasyPress Mini has three heat settings and the entire surface gives nice even heat.  The indicator light changes from yellow to green when it is at the correct temperature.
The "egg" shape of the base was great because I could get into the corners if I needed too with the pointed end or get nice even heat over slightly larger areas with the rounded end.

So much easier than my full sized iron (I'm not at risk of burning myself!)

The EasyPress Mini would also be perfect on other small projects like hair bows, pockets and sleeves, headbands etc.

It is looking like it will be a great soccer season! Thanks Cricut
