Personalized Flower Pot (Teacher or Mother's Day Gift)

Personalized flower pot
I wanted to do a super short post about a quick and inexpensive ($3.50) teacher gift I made for the preschool teachers this year.  Originally I wasn’t going to blog about it, and so I didn’t take pictures of the process, but it came out so cute I decided to post about it anyhow (so you have to forgive me for the phone pics.)

The craft itself is pretty straight forward. I found these cute little (4 inch) stoneware flower pots at the dollar store and picked up two of them (one for each teacher.)

I personalized them using my Silhouette Cameo and some vinyl.  I found the little potted plants at Ikea (although in hindsight I wish I had used a flowering plant.)Potted plant teacher gift
My absolute favorite part was the quote I ended up using:

“All the flowers of tomorrow are the seeds of today"

My youngest daughter has wonderful preschool teachers who are so great at accepting the (often challenging) behavior that comes with being four years old.  They are always reminding us moms that the kids have only “been on this earth 4 short years” and how they are just figuring their way in this world so we need to be patient with them.  Everyday our children are learning and growing, and soon they won’t be feisty little pre-schoolers, but wonderful young men and women.

And how we “tend” our children matters.  It is important, since they are like seeds.. it takes time and nurturing to make them blossom into who they really are.

It would be a great quote to use on a gift for a mom too.. with Mother's Day being around the corner.

Oh, and I would be remiss if I didn’t include the name of the font (since that is a question I get on almost every post where I do custom lettering.) This time I used Chopin Script, from dafont. (It is FREE! )  The flower sprigs were a free image loaded on my Silhouette software when I bought it.

So if you are still looking for a last minute gift idea.. it doesn't get much easier than this!

  6. Looks yum. Pinning the recipe. My kids loved pulled pork sandwiches too. The best part about the bella line is their design and colors. Don't know why, have never thought about freezing ginger. I guess we use so much of it in our cooking that it never gets the chance for become stringy! :)

  7. I've heard you can freeze other things too (like lemon grass and green onion) but I've never tried it!
